Ashland Sits 24th In Initial Spring Directors’ Cup Standings

Ashland University's athletic department is 24th in the first spring standings for the 2015-16 Division II Learfield Directors' Cup, released on Thursday (May 26) morning.

The Eagle women's golf team earned 60 points for its tied-for-fourth-place finish at the East Super Regional. Baseball and men's and women's outdoor track and field also are AU spring NCAA postseason programs, and those points will be added in for the final 2015-16 Division II Learfield Directors' Cup standings, released on June 9.

Thirteen Ashland teams reached the NCAA postseason in 2015-16 – baseball, men's basketball, football, men's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field, men's and women's cross country, wrestling, women's basketball, women's golf, women's swimming, women's indoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports in Division II – seven men's and seven women's.

Two hundred and thirty two Division II athletic programs are ranked in the Directors' Cup standings.
