AU Athletics Finishes 14th In D-II Directors’ Cup Standings

Ashland University's athletics department finished 14th in the 2015-16 NCAA Division II Learfield Directors' Cup standings, marking the 10th consecutive year Ashland has been in the Top 15 in the nation's all-sports standings.

AU finished with 522.75 points for the entire 2015-16 school year. In the final standings release, Eagle men's outdoor track and field earned 68.25 points for finishing ninth in the country, baseball took home 50 points for its Midwest Regional finish and women's outdoor track and field got 36.5 points for finishing in a tie for 37th in the nation.

Thirteen Ashland teams reached the NCAA postseason in 2015-16 – baseball, men's basketball, football, men's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field, men's cross country, wrestling, women's basketball, women's golf, women's swimming, women's indoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field and women's cross country.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports in Division II – seven men's and seven women's.

Two hundred and sixty three Division II athletic programs were ranked in the Directors' Cup standings.
