LINK – ASHLAND UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS COMPOSITE CALENDAR
Ashland University athletics will begin the new year with both the women's and men's basketball teams playing two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games at home, and the men's and women's indoor track and field teams resuming the season on the road.
The Eagle hoops teams will play host to Michigan Tech on Thursday (Jan. 5) on Church Night, then have Northern Michigan coming to Kates Gymnasium on Saturday (Jan. 7). AU's indoor track squads will go to Ohio State for the Buckeye Classic on Friday (Jan. 6).
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (LINK) – The No. 1-ranked Eagles will look to set a new program record on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against the Huskies. A win would give Ashland 33 straight at home in the regular season, breaking the previous mark of 32 set from Feb. 3, 2011-Nov. 9, 2013. The current streak began on Dec. 19, 2014.
Ashland will play at home against the Wildcats on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Eagles are 89-9 (.908) in their last 98 home games overall.
ONE TO WATCH: In three games against nationally-ranked teams this season, senior guard Kelsey Peare has 18 assists and just four turnovers.
MEN'S BASKETBALL (LINK) – Ashland will look for its first GLIAC home wins of the season on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. vs. Michigan Tech and Saturday at 3 p.m. against Northern Michigan. Since the start of the 2014-15 season, the Eagles are 29-8 (.784) at home.
AU averages 78.0 points and 18.8 assists to 12.6 turnovers per game at "The Kates" so far in 2016-17.
ONE TO WATCH: Senior guard Boo Osborne scored a season-high 15 points and pulled down a career-high-tying 11 rebounds in Ashland's 94-56 home win over Thiel on Friday (Dec. 30).
INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (LINK) – The sixth-ranked Eagle men and women will go back to work at OSU on Friday. Ashland will have an in-state meet as part of its schedule every week from 2017 Week 1 until the second week of February.
ONE TO WATCH: Sophomore Myles Pringle's 400-meter dash time of 46.11 at Kent State is 1.24 seconds better than the next-best mark in NCAA Division II, and 1.25 seconds better than the top mark in Division I.
