This Week In #EagleNation – For A Trip To Columbus

LINK – ASHLAND UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS COMPOSITE CALENDAR

Two days after one of the best overall days in the history of Ashland University athletics, there will be another key event in Eagle Nation.

Following up on a second-place national finish for Ashland's men's indoor track and field team, a sixth-place national finish for the Eagle wrestling team and a Midwest Regional semifinal home win for AU's women's basketball team on Saturday (March 11), the No. 1-ranked Eagle women will look to return to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on Monday (March 13) night at home against Drury.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (LINK) – Ashland (33-0) will seek its third Elite Eight appearance in the last six seasons on Monday at 7 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium in the 2017 Midwest Regional championship game against Drury (30-3). The Eagles' 33 consecutive wins tie the program record, as does the team's 20-0 home record in 2016-17.

A win on Monday night would put Ashland in the Elite Eight, which would start on March 21 at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

ONE TO WATCH: In her last eight games, junior forward Andi Daugherty is averaging 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and is hitting 56.0 percent from the floor, 45.8 percent from 3-point range and 97.1 percent from the free-throw line.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (LINK) – The Eagles (0-17) will conclude the 2016-17 season with Senior Day against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday (March 18) at 1 p.m. at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex. Ashland's lone senior, Meghann Fitzpatrick, will be honored.

ONE TO WATCH: Fitzpatrick has two doubles wins so far in the spring portion of the season.

BASEBALL (LINK) – Ashland (5-9) returns from its annual Florida spring trip to play five games in four days – a neutral-site non-conference game on Thursday (March 16) vs. West Liberty in Washington, Pa., and a four-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference set on Saturday and Sunday (March 19) at Findlay.

ONE TO WATCH: In back-to-back days to end the trip, freshman infielder Carson Mittermaier hit a three-run home run and a double.

SOFTBALL (LINK) – The Eagles (7-10) come back to campus after its Florida trip to play a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday (March 15) at 3 p.m. at Urbana.

ONE TO WATCH: Senior outfielder Ally Farrah is hitting .481 with three doubles, two RBIs and nine runs scored this season.

MEN'S GOLF (LINK) – Ashland starts the championship part of 2016-17 at the two-day SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.

ONE TO WATCH: Sophomore Austin Kondratick paced the Eagles in all five fall tournaments, finishing in the top 14 individually in all five.
