LINK – ASHLAND UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS COMPOSITE CALENDAR

The 2017 Ashland University athletics spring season is fully underway, and all of the Eagle programs are in action this week.

OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (LINK) – Coming off a strong start to the outdoor season of two automatic and 12 provisional marks for nationals, Ashland's men and women will go to the Miami (Ohio) Duals on Saturday (April 1). Field events begin at 9:30 a.m., with running events going off at 11 a.m.

ONE TO WATCH: Junior Daniel Roberts is No. 1 in NCAA Division II in the men's hammer throw (67.97 meters/223-feet-0) and No. 3 in the country in the men's discus throw (53.81 meters/176-feet-6).

WOMEN'S TENNIS (LINK) – The Eagles (0-17) will conclude the 2016-17 season with Senior Day against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex. Ashland's lone senior, Meghann Fitzpatrick, will be honored.

ONE TO WATCH: Fitzpatrick has two doubles wins so far in the spring portion of the season.

BASEBALL (LINK) – Ashland (9-14 overall, 3-5 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) is scheduled to play five games this week – Wednesday (March 29) at 3 p.m. at Cedarville, and a four-game GLIAC home set against Walsh on Saturday and Sunday (April 2).

ONE TO WATCH: Freshman outfielder Vince Vanata is hitting .382 with 12 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, seven RBIs and three stolen bases.

SOFTBALL (LINK) – The Eagles (11-12 overall, 2-2 GLIAC) have a busy week ahead of them, with four doubleheaders scheduled. Ashland will play at Cedarville on Monday (March 27) at 3:30 p.m. and at Malone on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., then return home for conference play vs. Northwood on Saturday at noon and against Saginaw Valley State on Sunday at noon.

ONE TO WATCH: Freshman designated player Dayna Denner is hitting .369 with 14 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, one home run, seven RBIs and seven stolen bases.

WOMEN'S GOLF (LINK) – Ashland will finish the week with the first round of the NC4K at Ohio Dominican on Sunday. The Eagles are coming off fifth-place, second-place and third-place finishes in their three March tournaments.

ONE TO WATCH: Redshirt freshman Krystal Hu earned her first collegiate medalist honor on Sunday (March 26) at the Perry Park Spring Fling, and is averaging a round of 77 in her first three tournaments.

MEN'S GOLF (LINK) – The Eagles start the week on Monday and Tuesday (March 28) at the GLIAC South Invitational at Andover Country Club in Lexington, Ky. In its first spring action, Ashland was 15th at the SVSU Spring Invitational

ONE TO WATCH: At the SVSU Spring Invite, junior Chandler Walnsch led the Eagles with a two-day score of 75-73—148, good for a tie for 12th individually.
