The first full week of April will be a busy one for Ashland University's spring sports programs.

While there is just one home event scheduled this week, the Eagles' men's and women's outdoor track and field, baseball, softball, women's golf and men's golf teams will be traveling all around the Midwest in continuing their 2017 campaigns.

OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (LINK) – Ashland's men, ranked No. 2 in the country, and women will compete at the two-day John Homon Open at Mount Union on Friday (April 7) and Saturday (April 8). The Eagles go into the third weekend of outdoor action with three automatic and 15 provisional marks for 2017 nationals.

ONE TO WATCH: Senior Jason Zahn is ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in the discus (54.10 meters/177-feet-6) and 10th in the shot put (16.74 meters/54-feet-11¼).

SOFTBALL (LINK) – The Eagles (15-14 overall, 3-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), coming off dealing Saginaw Valley State its first conference loss of 2017 and going 8-4 in their last 12 games, have three GLIAC doubleheaders on tap this week. Ashland will play host to Northwood on Monday (April 3) at 10 a.m., then go on the road for Lake Erie on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Walsh on Sunday (April 9) at noon.

ONE TO WATCH: Sophomore infielder Paige Summers is hitting .301 with six doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs.

BASEBALL (LINK) – Ashland (12-16 overall, 5-7 GLIAC) enters a new week having won four of its last six games. The Eagles will play at home in a single game vs. West Liberty on Thursday (April 6) at 3 p.m., then go on the road for a four-game GLIAC set against Wayne State on Saturday and Sunday.

ONE TO WATCH: Sophomore right-handed pitcher Chris Slavik has a current scoreless innings streak of 10 1/3 innings.

WOMEN'S GOLF (LINK) – The Eagles' week will consist of the second and final round of the NC4K College Classic in Blacklick, Ohio, on Monday. Ashland's first round of 319 on Sunday (April 2) put it in fifth place in the 18-team field.

ONE TO WATCH: Senior Kaitlin Neumann fired a first-round 78 on Day 1 of the NC4K on Sunday.

MEN'S GOLF (LINK) – Ashland will play in the Spring Regional on Monday and Tuesday (April 4) at Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville, Tenn. This starts a key stretch for the Eagles, whose other April action will be the 2017 GLIAC Championships, April 21-23 in Nashport, Ohio.

ONE TO WATCH: Junior Chandler Walnsch's first four spring rounds have been 75, 73, 76 and 75.
