This Week In #EagleNation – Time To Make Moves

LINK – ASHLAND UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS COMPOSITE CALENDAR

As the calendar heads toward mid-April, Ashland University's spring programs are looking to make their moves where the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the postseason are concerned.

Easter week will see both home and road play for the four programs in action, including home games for the softball and baseball teams.

OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (LINK) – The No. 2-ranked Ashland men and the Eagle women will take a combined three automatic and 18 provisional efforts for 2017 NCAA Division II outdoor nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla., into the Northeast Ohio Quad at Akron on Friday (April 14) and Saturday (April 15).

ONE TO WATCH: Senior Rebecca Koval turned in the ninth-best women's high jump in NCAA Division II this season at 1.71 meters/5-feet-7¼ on Saturday (April 8) at the John Homon Open at Mount Union.

SOFTBALL (LINK) – The Eagles (19-16 overall, 7-5 GLIAC) will take their stretch of 12-6 since returning from Florida into three doubleheaders this week – Wednesday (April 12) at 3:30 p.m. at Urbana, Friday at 1 p.m. at home vs. Findlay and Saturday at noon at Tiffin.

ONE TO WATCH: Freshman third baseman Dayna Denner was 12-of-23 with eight runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, three RBIs and three stolen bases in six games last week.

BASEBALL (LINK) – Ashland (12-20 overall, 5-11 GLIAC) will look to rebound from a weekend four-game sweep at Wayne State with a pair of GLIAC twinbills – Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Grand Valley State and Saturday at 1 p.m. at home vs. Ohio Dominican.

ONE TO WATCH: Junior infielder J.P. Sorma is hitting .356 with 22 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, four home runs, 28 RBIs and six stolen bases in 2017.

WOMEN'S GOLF (LINK) – The Eagles return to the links for the two-day Cavalier Classic at Walsh on Monday (April 10) and Tuesday (April 11). This will be Ashland's last action prior to the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, April 21-23, at Virtues Golf Club.

ONE TO WATCH: Senior Kaitlin Neumann has finished in the Top 10 individually in seven of nine tournaments in 2016-17, including each of the last five.
