Eagle Champions, Runners-Up Will Be Recognized At Clippers Game

Ashland University's 2017-18 NCAA Division II national champions and runners-up will be recognized at the Ashland University Alumni Night with the Columbus Clippers, July 19 at 7:05 p.m. at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

Box seat tickets are $14 each (adult, youth or senior), and each ticket includes $5 in "Clippers Cash," good for food, beverage or souvenirs. Those wanting to buy tickets need to do so by July 16.

The list of Eagle national champs and runners-up from the last athletic year follows:

Men's track and field (indoors) – junior Myles Pringle, national champion in 400-meter dash and national runner-up in 200-meter dash; 4x400-meter relay team, national runner-up (freshmen Channing Phillips, Trevor Bassitt and Brenden Archer, and Pringle); sophomore Alex Hill, national runner-up in weight throw.

Wrestling – sophomore Bret Romanzak, national champion at 165 pounds; senior Luke Cramer, national champion at 197 pounds.

Women's basketball – national runner-up team.

Men's track and field (outdoors) – national runner-up team; Pringle, national champion in 400-meter dash and national runner-up in high jump; 4x400-meter relay team, national champion (freshmen Phillips, Bassitt and T.J. Elliott, and Pringle).

Ashland Director of Athletics Al King is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of the game.

On July 19, the Clippers, the Class AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Class AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees.
