Sloan Earns District Writing Award For Second Straight Year

For the second consecutive year, Ashland University Director of Athletic Communications Dusty Sloan has earned a district honor in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Fred Stabley, Sr. Writing Contest.

Sloan was the District 4 winner in the Blog/Interview category for his #EagleNation Spotlight on the Eagle women's basketball team following its 2016-17 NCAA Division II national championship (LINK). He also earned a District 4 runner-up citation in the General Feature category for his #EagleNation Spotlight on then-women's basketball assistant coach Kari Pickens and forward Andi Daugherty (LINK).

In 2016, Sloan garnered his first Stabley district award in the Story With Video category for his game recap of the Eagle women's basketball team's 72-70 home D-II Midwest Regional victory over Ursuline (LINK).

Starting his fifth academic year in the Ashland athletic department, Sloan is a 1999 Ashland University graduate.

The 2017-18 Stabley Writing Contest drew 383 total entries, with the Athlete Profile category leading the way with 87 stories. Submissions were first judged at the district level, with district winners advancing to a national committee.
