Bland Joins Eagles As Strength And Conditioning Assistant

On Monday (Aug. 6) afternoon, Ashland University Director of Athletics Al King announced the hire of Anthony Bland as the athletic department's assistant strength and conditioning coach.

"Anthony brings a high level of enthusiasm and energy to this position," King said. "He also brings some new perspectives to our department, and we welcome that. Anthony has no shortage of ideas, and that's going to benefit all of us.

"Having Anthony here is going to make life easier for our strength and conditioning coordinator, Malcolm Majesky, and it is going to expand what we can do to help our student-athletes. Injury prevention and rehabilitation, training plans, nutrition, these are all areas Anthony will work with in tandem with Malcolm and our athletic trainers."

Bland comes to the Eagles from NCAA Division I Morehead State, where he served in the same capacity since the start of 2016. At MSU, Bland created and implemented the year-round strength and conditioning programs for six varsity teams (men's tennis, women's tennis, women's soccer, track and field, women's basketball and rifle), and assisted with all aspects of training for football and baseball.

Prior to that, Bland worked in strength and conditioning at Division I Marshall and NAIA Missouri Baptist.

Bland is a 2012 graduate of Peru State College, and earned a master's degree in 2014 from Lindenwood.
