The end of the 2018-19 Ashland University athletic year is approaching, and with that, the fourth annual ASHPY Awards, presented by AU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will be Sunday (April 28) at 7 p.m. in the Upper Convocation Center.

All proceeds from the ASHPY's will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Ashland University community and the Ashland community at large are invited to attend the ASHPY's, and admission is a suggested donation for Make-A-Wish.

One wish was announced at the annual AU football Purple & Gold Spring Game. Another will be announced at the ASHPY's, as SAAC's honored guest, Nathaniel Forcell, will be in attendance.

"(Nathaniel) is a young man who is about 45 minutes away from our area, and is going to come join us as our honored guest," said Kate Bruning, Ashland SAAC advisor and athletic trainer. "The kids will know what the money goes to when they spend all year raising it.

"It's been a really great year. The kids have been awesome. They have worked really hard to raise money and to be able to grant the wishes that we are granting."

This year's ASHPY awards include:

- Senior Leader

- Community Service (team)

- Individual GPA

- Team GPA

- Fan of the Year

- Eagle of the Year

- Most Spirited Team

- Perseverance and Courage

- Best Moment

- Play of the Year

- Best Championship Performance

- Record-Breaking Performance

- Game of the Year

- Coach of the Year

- Male Freshman of the Year

- Female Freshman of the Year

- International Athlete

- Male Athlete of the Year

- Female Athlete of the Year

"The ASHPY's are just a fun way for the student-athletes to get to dress up," Bruning said. "We see them on the field or at practices. This is their opportunity to put on some dress clothes and celebrate the year, and the hard work they've put in, both on the field and off the field."
