Bracken Returns To Eagle Athletics As Assistant AD

Ashland University Director of Athletics Al King announced on Wednesday (July 24) afternoon the return of Adam Bracken to the athletic department as Assistant Athletic Director/Compliance Director/Business Manager.

Bracken, who recently had a brief stint as Athletic Director at nearby Wooster High School, will start his fourth year as AU Assistant Athletic Director and his sixth year in the athletic department overall.

"We are excited to welcome Adam back to the department," King said. "Before he left, I talked to him about wanting to do more in several areas, particularly compliance. In his tenure at AU, Adam has done marvelous work in that area.

"We're going to tailor this position so he has more time to focus on that, financial aid, roster management, special reports and budget. He's outstanding in those areas, and having him back is a huge asset for our coaches, student-athletes and staff."

Previously at Ashland, Bracken has monitored eligibility, progress towards degree, medical hardships, financial aid and CARA hours for more than 550 student-athletes in 23 varsity sports. He has ensured proper recruiting and playing-season requirements for all coaches and administrative staff, recorded all pertinent information for official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes, and conducted weekly coaches' education sessions on NCAA bylaws.

Bracken is responsible for all communication between the university and the conference office with regard to compliance issues, and has provided interpretations and rulings for staff and students using LSDBi, RSRO, Compliance Assistant and the Eligibility Center. He also created a comprehensive drug-testing policy for student-athletes at Ashland.

Prior to coming to Ashland as the athletic department's first full-time compliance officer, Bracken was Athletic Director at Hillsdale High School for one year, and was Assistant Athletic Director at Ashland High School from 2005-12.

A 2002 Mount Union graduate, Bracken earned a master's degree in Educational Administration from Ashland in 2006, and a master's of Business Administration in sports management from Tiffin in 2011.
