Ashland University head basketball coaches John Ellenwood and Kari Pickens will be the keynote speakers for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club's luncheon on Monday (Sept. 16).

The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. at Tozzi's on 12th, 4210 12th Street NW in Canton, Ohio. Cost is $13 for club members, and $23 for guests.

Starting his 11th season leading Ashland's men's basketball team, Ellenwood is second in program history in wins (170), games coached (281) and seasons coached, and his .609 career winning percentage with the Eagles is fourth-best among those with 100 games coached (Bill Musselman .811, Fred Schmuck .658 and Joe Gottfried .648).

Over the last five seasons, Ellenwood has guided the AU men to 106 wins, two NCAA Division II playoff appearances and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 2015-16. Those 106 victories in five years represent the program's best stretch since 1966-67 to 1970-71 (119).

Winning an NCAA Division II national championship as both a player and assistant coach with the Eagles, Pickens went 29-3 and led Ashland's women to a GLIAC Tournament championship and D-II postseason spot in her first season as a head coach in 2018-19.

Pickens was named, among other honors, both Honda Sports Award Division II Female Athlete of the Year and two-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Player of the Year twice as a player, and was WBCA D-II Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016-17.
