Seniors Bios

JOY BOONE

Joy is the daughter of Amy Boone. This is her fourth year on the cheer team. Joy is from Kenton, Ohio, where she attended Kenton High School. Joy is an Intervention Specialist K-12 major with a minor in Psychology. Joy has been a huddle leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes for four years, and has also been a Bible study leader for the cheerleading team. Joy has been an Eagle caller and a Supervisor on campus, as well as a tutor for America Reads and America Counts at the schools in Ashland. Joy was also Vice President of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society, and a member of Alpha Lamda Delta. Upon graduation in December, Joy will be getting married to high school sweetheart, Trevor, the week after. She plans to obtain a high school Intervention Specialist job, and later go to Masters school to become a Guidance Counselor. She will also become a coach at Rock Solid Gymnastics and Cheer Academy in Columbus, Ohio.

 

PAIGE FRANKOVICH

Paige Frankovich is the daughter of Jim Frankovich and Staci Angelo, and the step-daughter of Carly Frankovich. Her hometown is Dover, Ohio. This is her third year on the cheer team, and she is a member of the Leadership Team. She is majoring in business administration and minoring in Spanish and religion. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, and involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Upon graduation, she plans to find a Human Resource job near her hometown.

 

KRISTIN HANEY

Kristin Haney is the daughter of Mike and Alicia Haney. She is from Dover, Ohio, where she attended Dover High School. This is her fourth year on the cheerleading team, and serves as a leader on the leadership team. Kristin is an Early Childhood Education Major, and is working to earn her fourth- and fifth-grade endorsement as well. Kristin is very involved on campus, where she is a member of the sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, the education honorary, Kappa Delta Pi, and serves as an athletic mentor. Upon graduation, Kristin would like to find a teaching job and to coach cheer around her hometown.

 

MACKENZIE KOEHLER

Mackenzie is the daughter of Kevin and Mary Beth Koehler. This is her fourth year on the cheer team, and she was previously on the dance team for two years. She will be graduating in December with a Fashion Merchandising major and a double minor in Business Management and Marketing. On campus, Koehler is also a manager at The Rec, involved in the Fashion Organization, and in Delta Zeta Sorority. Upon graduation, Koehler will be furthering her career in fashion styling.

 

ALYSSA MCQUATE

Alyssa is the daughter of Dan and Kim McQuate, and a sister to Jevin McQuate. This is Alyssa’s fourth year on the cheerleading team, and her second year serving as a member of the leadership team. She is from Red Haw, Ohio, where she attended Mapleton High School. Alyssa is a Business Management and Finance major, with a focus in Human Resources. Upon graduation, Alyssa will be getting married to her fiancé, Gabe Caldwell, and has plans to move to the Columbus area and pursue a career in Human Resources.

 

ALISON PHILLIPS

Alison is the daughter of Greg and Chrissy Phillips. This is her fourth year on the cheerleading team at Ashland University. Ali is from Vermilion, Ohio. Ali majors in exercise science while working at Facilities at the university. Moving forward after graduation, Ali intends to attend physical therapy school.

 

RYLEY POLING

Ryley is the daughter of Guy and Pat Poling. She is from Fredericksburg, Ohio, and attended Waynedale High School. This is her fourth year on the cheerleading and serves as a leader on the leadership team. Ryley is an Intervention Specialist K-12 major with a minor in Online Teaching and Instructional Technology. Ryley is very involved on campus, where she is a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and serves as an athletic mentor. Upon graduation, Poling plans on finding a teaching job and coaching cheerleading.

 

KARLY SMITH

Karly is the daughter of Wanda Rodriguez and Robert Smith. She is from Columbiana, Ohio, where she attended Columbiana High School. Karly is a four-year cheer team member at Ashland. She is a Nursing major with a minor in Chemistry. On campus, she works at the Admissions Office as a tour guide, in a member of Fraternity and Sorority Life, serves as the Vice President of the Nurses Christian Fellowship, and is an active member in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Upon graduation, Karly hopes to pursue a nursing career in the Emergency Department or a Pediatric Emergency/Trauma Unit. In future years, she would like to attend a graduate program to become a Nurse Anesthetist.
