Head Coach Denise Farnsworth

Denise Farnsworth is in her second year as the Head Cheer and Dance Coach for Ashland University. She is an Ashland native who has been a cheer and dance coach for more than two decades.

Farnsworth's extensive coaching career includes more than a decade in various capacities at Ashland High School – 13 years (2002-14) as competition cheer coach, seven years (2008-14) as Sweet Sixteen dance coach, four years (2011-14) as Sweet Sixteen competition dance coach, six years (2009-14) as competition cheer/dance event director, and four years (2008-11) as varsity/junior varsity football cheer coach.

Prior to returning to her alma mater, Farnsworth spent two years (2006-07) at Upper Arlington High School as varsity competition cheer and junior varsity cheer coach and two years at Rock Solid Cheer Academy in Hilliard, Ohio. Her coaching career began at Ashland Middle School in 1998.

Farnsworth was a professional cheerleader/dancer for Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew from 2006-08, and she was a varsity cheerleader at Tiffin University from 1997-98.

Farnsworth has choreographed numerous cheer and dance routines for all levels including youth, middle school, high school and all-star cheer and dance. She continues to offer privates lessons in both cheer and dance, and also volunteers her time to local high schools during tryout seasons.

She also is the director of the annual Ashland University Cheer and Dance Competition. Farnsworth is AACCA certified, a certified STUNT Coach, a certified STUNT Official, a member of the USASF, and is SafeSport Trained.

Farnsworth resides here in Ashland with her husband, Rob, and two children, Miles and Stella. They all enjoying camping, traveling and, most importantly, baseball - when it is not cheer and dance season.
