Cheerleading and Dance Team Information

AU Cheerleading

A talented group of Ashland University Eagle cheerleaders provide the lift and energy for Eagle athletes and fans. The varsity team consists of 18 female members who cheer at home football games and all home basketball games.

The varsity team also accompanies the football/basketball teams to any NCAA tournament games. Each member of the varsity team is awarded a $500 scholarship, and is provided with a strength and conditioning program, as well as receive four free tickets to each game for their family and friends.

The junior varsity team has 10 female members who cheer at all home football games and all home basketball games. No traveling is required.

Both teams practice twice per week for two hours per practice. Practices are on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. All cheerleaders are required to participate in community service and crowd appearances.

All cheerleaders attend a mandatory summer stunting camp at AU to learn and sharpen their skills. Following camp, in preparation for the upcoming season, practices are before classes resume.

Anyone who has been accepted to Ashland University by the tryout date may participate. Tumbling is not mandatory for the tryout, but it is helpful.

Questions about the AU Eagle cheerleaders or tryouts may be directed to Denise Farnsworth, Head Coach, at aucheerdancecoach@ashland.edu.
