Adam Bracken is in his fourth year as Ashland University's Assistant Athletic Director, sixth year as AU's Compliance Director and first year as Ashland's Business Manager.

He is the first full-time compliance officer the university has employed.

Bracken has monitored eligibility, progress towards degree, medical hardships, financial aid and CARA hours for more than 550 student-athletes in 20 (23 in 2018-19) varsity sports. He has ensured proper recruiting and playing-season requirements for all coaches and administrative staff, recorded all pertinent information for official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes and conducted weekly coaches' education sessions on NCAA bylaws.

Bracken is responsible for all communication between the university and the conference office with regard to compliance issues, and has provided interpretations and rulings for staff and students using LSDBi, RSRO, Compliance Assistant and the Eligibility Center.

In addition, Bracken is responsible for fiscal management of overall athletic budget, is the single-source site administrator for NCAA applications, reports EADA, Sports Demographic and fiscal-year reports to NCAA and has served on search committees for hiring of men’s soccer, women’s tennis and swimming head coaches, as well as a strength and conditioning coach.

He has created a comprehensive drug-testing policy for student-athletes at Ashland, serves on task force for athletic excellence, and has helped performe an institutional prioritization for the athletics program. Bracken is a Title IX committee member, trained as an ATIXA Level 1 Investigator.

Bracken came to AU after serving as the athletic director at nearby Hillsdale High School. In that role, he directed an athletic department that had 11 varsity sports and six middle school sports. He was responsible for a $135,000 budget.

Bracken spent one year at Hillsdale. He was an assistant athletic director at Ashland High School from 2005-12.

While he was at Ashland, Bracken also taught mathematics and was the head boys soccer coach. He coached the AHS boys from 2004-12 and had a record of 70-41-5. The Arrows were the district runner-up twice and finished as the regional runner-up once. In 2005, Bracken was the district coach of the year and the Ohio Cardinal Conference coach of the year.

Bracken is a 2002 Mount Union graduate. He earned a master's degree in educational administration from Ashland in 2006 and a master of business administration in sports management from Tiffin in 2011.

Bracken, his wife, Kim, and three daughters reside in Ashland. Kim (Herman) Bracken played softball at AU.
