Brendan Bittner is in his third year as Ashland University's Director of Athletic Communications.

As one of two AU Directors of Athletic Communications, Bittner, a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), is responsible for all publicity concerning AU's 23 varsity sports, helping lead the athletic department's social media efforts and updating goashlandeagles.com, statistics and records.

In addition to his Athletic Communications duties, Bittner was the tournament director for both the Midwest Regional baseball tournament in Kent, Ohio, and the Midwest Super Regional baseball tournament in Ashland.

Prior to returning to Ashland, Bittner, a 2009 Ashland graduate, spent five years at Quincy University - first as Sports Information Director, then as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. He was responsible for the publicity and promotion of Quincy’s 20 varsity sports, including management of the athletics website, statistical management, social media, serving as the media liaison, record keeping, event management and photography. He also serves as the D2CCA All-America Midwest Region coordinator for men's soccer.

Bittner, a native of Madison, Ohio, came to Quincy after a two-year stint as the sports information graduate assistant at Ashland, where he was the primary contact for the women's basketball team's run to the national championship game in 2012 in San Antonio. He served as a host SID for GLIAC Championships in men's soccer, cross country, women's golf and women's basketball, and Midwest Regional championships in women's basketball. Bittner also played an integral role in the launch of GoAshlandEagles.com and the athletic department's Twitter page.

Prior to Ashland, Bittner spent the 2009-10 academic year as a Sports Information and Marketing Intern at Lake Erie College. There, he assisted in all aspects of the sports information and marketing office while the school's 23 varsity sports transitioned to NCAA Division II status. He also helped in the launch of LakeErieStorm.com.

Bittner also spent two summers as an intern with Minor League Baseball teams. In 2009, he was the media trainee for the Danville (Va.) Braves, the Atlanta Braves' Appalachian League affiliate. The previous year, he was the media relations intern for the Akron Aeros, the Cleveland Indians' Double-A affiliate.

Bittner earned a Masters degree in Sport Education from Ashland University in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and sport communication from Ashland in 2009. He worked in the sports information office as a student assistant for all four undergraduate years.

Bittner and his wife, Katie, have two sons, Michael and Augustine.
