Heather Gable is in her second year as Ashland University’s Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Internal Operations/Senior Woman Administrator and third year overall in the Ashland University Athletic Department.

Gable is involved in budgeting and billing and assists with the department’s marketing efforts. In the past year she has revamped several aspects of the department’s day-to-day financial operation. She works closely with sponsors and local businesses in designing advertising packages.

Gable is also a member the department’s executive staff, which meets weekly. She is a member of several other on-campus committees. She is a member of Ashland University’s Hall of Fame committee and the Athletic Department’s Drug Advisory Committee. Gable also attends the annual NCAA Convention. She is active within the GLIAC, attending all conference meetings and sitting on the GLIAC Management Council.

The assistant athletic director serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. She is also an integral part of the Athletic Department’s hiring process as she sits on every Athletics search committee. Gable has sport oversight for volleyball, softball, swimming and diving and has two other direct reports - game operations and equipment. Last year she produced the department’s policy manual.

In her short time at AU Gable has become involved in several major projects. A year ago she helped produce several Women in Sport activities. Last spring she was heavily involved in the planning and execution as AU hosted two rounds of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Baseball Championships.

Gable previously was a long-term substitute teacher for the Ashland City School, and, from 2010-16, owner of her own home child care business in Kansas. Gable spent a year as the administrative assistant to the executive director at Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kan.

Gable's previous athletics background includes a year as softball coach at Blue Valley Northwest High School, and two years (2004-06) as assistant softball coach at Ohio Wesleyan.

Gable is a 2004 graduate of North Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and a Minor in Business Administration. She played college softball at both Northwest Missouri State and North Alabama.

Her husband, Jarrod, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Athletic Training at Ashland University. The Gables, and daughters Mikayla and Lacey, reside in Ashland.
