2010: Malfara appeared in a career-high eight games as a sophomore for the Eagles. He also made his first three career starts, going 2-0 with a 7.06 ERA on the season. He struck out 14 and walked six in 21.2 innings pitched. Malfara had the best appearance of his career against Southwest Minnesota State on March 8, tossing a seven-inning, complete game shutout. He surrendered just two hits and struck out three with no walks allowed. It was also Malfara’s first career win. He earned his second win of the season against Hillsdale on April 2, allowing just two runs on six hits with two strikeouts.


2009:
Malfara pitched in two games last season for a total of five and two-thirds innings.  He struck out five, while giving up eight earned runs.  In junior varsity play, he appeared four times without allowing a run.  In his six innings pitched, he struck out nine, while earning two saves.

2008: Malfara pitched in two games for the Eagles before being redshirted.  He pitched three innings, giving up five hits, two walks and four earned runs. 

High School: Malfara was a Buckeye Legion all-star.  He played in the 2006 Napoleon River Bandit Fall Baseball Classic All-Star Game.  The righthander earned all-conference honors and in 2005 helped the Redskins win conference and sectional titles.  That team was 22-4, 13-1 within the conference.  Malfara was a three-year letterman in baseball and earned one citation in basketball.  He was a team captain on the hardwood and a Sandusky Bay Conference honorable mention choice.

Personal: Malfara’s parents are Chris and Donna Malfara.  The sophomore was born Dec. 26, 1988.  Malfara is an English education major.
