2012: In his first season with the Eagles Botjer established himself as one of the GLIAC's best - and most durable - pitchers. He was a first team all-conference selection. Botjer was 8-5 with a 2.48 ERA and three saves. The righty led the team in wins, saves, innings pitched, appearances, strikeouts, complete games and batting average against (.225). Botjer was the GLIAC leader in innings pitched and he was second in strikeouts and complete games. He was tied for third in wins, fifth in ERA and appearances, sixth in opponent batting average and eighth in saves. Botjer lost his first two decisions of the year and his first win at Ashland was his lone shutout of the season, a 1-0 victory at Northwood. At one point in the season, Botjer won seven consecutive decisions. Botjer had a season high 12 strikeouts against Saginaw Valley State. That was also the high for a GLIAC pitcher in 2012.

High School: Botjer played on two state championships teams - one in football and one in baseball at Patrick Henry High School. He was first team all-conference in baseball as a junior and senior and was named the school's Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2008. As a senior, Botjer went 12-1 with 92 strikeouts and a 1.24 ERA. Botjer lettered three teams each in baseball and football and twice in basketball. He was first team all-league in football and second team all-conference in basketball. Botjer was a wide receiver and as a senior, had 910 receiving yards. The 2004 team he played on was 15-0 and won the state title. The Patriots won the state baseball championship in 2008 with a 28-3 record. In basketball, he led the Patriots in assists and in 2007, shot 90.6 percent at the free throw line.
