Minnesota-Mankato Quiets Eagles, 3-1

The Ashland University baseball team lost, 3-1 on Thursday (Mar. 14) to Minnesota State-Mankato. The game was played in Auburndale, Fla.

The loss leaves the Eagles with a 7-3 record. This was AU's second consecutive loss.

The Minnesota school scored twice in the fourth inning and once in the eighth inning. Ashland's lone run came in the bottom of the ninth. The Eagles were limited to five hits. The only player with more than one hit was outfielder Austin Erb (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover). He was 2-for-4 with a double.

Right-hander Brad Thomas (Orrville, Ohio) absorbed the loss. He went 7.1 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits. Thomas walked one and struck out two. Lefty Cole Hudson (Dresden, Ohio/Zanesville) pitched the final 1.2 innings and didn't allow a run or a hit.

Ashland and Minnesota State-Mankato will play a doubleheader on Friday (Mar. 15).
