The AU baseball team saw its record dip to 5-4 on Thursday morning (Mar. 6) thanks to a 6-3 loss to Lewis in eight innings. The game was played in Auburndale, Fla.

The Eagles never had the lead in this game. Lewis scored three runs in the third, added a single run in the fourth and pushed across two more runs in the fifth. All six runs were charged to starter and loser Jon Thacker. In six innings he allowed six runs - four earned - on eight hits. Thacker allowed eight hits. He walked four and struck out six.

Sam Shafer followed Thacker to the mound and pitched two scoreless innings.

First baseman Tyler Gray went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in one run. Designated hitter Kyle Brooks was 2-for-4.

This was Ashland's second loss to Lewis on the spring trip. AU has lost three consecutive games.

Lewis is a Midwest Region foe and so is the team the Eagles will play on Friday (Mar. 7), Missouri-St. Louis. The Eagles and Tritons are scheduled to play a doubleheader.
