AU Baseball Returns To Division II Postseason

After a one-year absence, Ashland University's baseball team is returning to the NCAA Division II postseason.

AU will be the No. 6 seed in the Midwest Regional, to be played in St. Charles, Mo., from Thursday (May 14) to Sunday (May 17). The Eagles are 36-17 overall, and were winners of both the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference overall regular season and South Division titles. AU was runner-up at the 2015 GLIAC Tournament, finishing with a 3-2 record.

Ashland's first opponent in the regional tournament will be top-seed and host Quincy (39-15). The NCAA-recommended game time would be 11 a.m. Eastern.

Other first-round regional matchups on Thursday include second-seed Grand Valley State (34-16) against fifth-seed Drury (31-22-1), and third-seed William Jewell (37-17) against fourth-seed Truman (31-20).

This will be the Eagle baseball program's 14th NCAA postseason appearance, all since 1995.
