Ashland Baseball Tops Pace In 10 Innings, 12-11

Ashland University's baseball team improved to 2-0 in Florida and 3-2 overall in 2016 following a 12-11, 10-inning win over Pace on Saturday (March 5) afternoon.

The Eagles won a wild game which started with them leading 4-2 after one inning and 6-3 after two. In the bottom of the 10th, senior Nick Edwards scored on a wild pitch on an attempted intentional walk.

Edwards, senior Mike Lewandowski, sophomore J.P. Sorma, junior Brad Hartman and junior Carsten Dembeck each had two hits in the victory, and Lewandowski drove in two runs.

Senior Alex Smith pitched the final 1 2/3 innings scoreless for the victory. Sophomore Derek Baker pitched 4 2/3 innings of four-hit relief with three strikeouts.

The Eagles return to play on Sunday (March 6) at 9:30 a.m. against Northwood.
