Sorma Earns Second Straight GLIAC South Division Honor

For the second week in a row, Ashland University sophomore third baseman/left fielder J.P. Sorma is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week.

Sorma picked up right where he left off the previous week, going 10-for-23 (.435) with three home runs, 12 RBIs and eight runs scored in six games. He had three multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games as the Eagles went 4-2.

Sorma also is the reigning National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II National Hitter of the Week.

The conference's home run leader with 12, Sorma also is second in the GLIAC with 44 RBIs and third in slugging percentage at .696.

The Eagles (25-14 overall, 16-4 GLIAC, 12-2 South) will complete their 11-game road trip with a non-conference game at Cedarville (13-22) on Tuesday (April 26) at 4 p.m. On March 22 at Donges Field, the Eagles defeated the Yellow Jackets, 26-2.
