Sittinger Named Semifinalist For Tomko Pitcher Of The Year Award

Ashland University junior right-handed pitcher Brandyn Sittinger is one of 40 semifinalists for the 2016 Brett Tomko Division II Pitcher of the Year, presented by D2 Baseball News, which revealed the list on Thursday (May 5).

In 2016, Sittinger is 9-0 in 11 appearances (10 starts), and leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in earned-run average (2.58), wins, strikeouts (98) and strikeouts per nine innings (13.30). He has allowed just one home run in 66 1/3 innings this spring, and has struck out 10 or more batters four times.

Through May 1, Sittinger was third in Division II in strikeouts per nine innings, tied for 10th in wins and 11th in strikeouts.

The Brett Tomko Award is an honor presented to Division II baseball's pitcher of the year. The annual award is bestowed to a college baseball pitcher whose on-the-field performance is deemed the most outstanding at the D-II level.

The winner of the second annual Brett Tomko Award will be named on June 6 following the Division II Championships in Cary, N.C. The finalists will be revealed prior to the beginning of the finals.
