Sittinger Earns Spot On CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

On Thursday (May 5) morning, Ashland University junior right-handed pitcher Brandyn Sittinger was named one of 40 semifinalists for the 2016 Brett Tomko Division II Pitcher of the Year, presented by D2 Baseball News.

On Thursday afternoon, Sittinger picked up another honor, this one being named a member of the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 4 team in Division II.

In 2016, Sittinger is 9-0 in 11 appearances (10 starts), and leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in earned-run average (2.58), wins, strikeouts (98) and strikeouts per nine innings (13.30). He has allowed just one home run in 66 1/3 innings this spring, and has struck out 10 or more batters four times.

Through May 1, Sittinger was third in Division II in strikeouts per nine innings, tied for 10th in wins and 11th in strikeouts.

Sittinger sports a 3.60 cumulative grade-point average in Sport Management.

Sittinger will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later in May.
