Sittinger, Sorma Earn NCBWA All-American Honors

Postseason honors continue to roll in for Ashland University's baseball team, as junior right-handed pitcher Brandyn Sittinger and sophomore third baseman J.P. Sorma earned third-team All-American recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Sittinger was 11-0 with a 2.23 earned-run average in 14 appearances (13 starts) in 2016. In 88 2/3 innings, he struck out 131 and allowed 65 hits, 27 runs (22 earned) and 40 walks.

Sorma finished 2016 hitting .381 with 17 home runs (second on AU's single-season list), 11 doubles, 51 runs scored and 59 RBIs. He will take a 29-game hitting streak into 2017.

Sittinger and Sorma follow Stephen James (second-team, 2015), Wade Kaido (honorable mention, 2014), Jake Baldwin (third team, 2013) and Ajay Meyer (honorable mention, 2011) as NCBWA All-Americans this decade.
