Former Eagle Warren Earns Midwest League All Star Game Nod

In his first full professional season, former Ashland University pitcher Art Warren has earned a spot in the 2016 Midwest League All Star Game.

Warren, playing for the Clinton (Iowa) LumberKings, the Seattle Mariners' full-season Class A affiliate, has been one of the Midwest League's top pitchers from the start of the 2016 season. He is 6-0 with a 1.58 earned-run average in 10 starts.

In 51 1/3 innings, Warren has allowed 45 hits, 12 runs (nine earned) and 12 walks while striking out 39.

Through Monday (June 6), Warren was tied for second in the league in wins and seventh in ERA, and had the fifth-most innings without allowing a home run. His next scheduled start is Wednesday (June 8) at 8:05 p.m. Eastern at Wisconsin.

Warren is one of four LumberKings who was named on Tuesday (June 7) to the Western Division roster for the All Star Game, June 21 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Warren was chosen by the Mariners in the 23rd round (No. 695 overall) in June of 2015. Last year, he pitched in six regular-season games and one postseason contest out of the bullpen for the Arizona Rookie League Mariners.

During the regular year, Warren was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 10 strikeouts in seven innings. In Warren's one playoff outing, he pitched a scoreless inning with a K and earned a save for the eventual league runner-up.

In his only season on the mound for the Eagles in 2015 after transferring from Division I Cincinnati, Warren was 5-4 with a 3.88 ERA in 60 1/3 innings over 12 starts in 2015. He allowed 48 hits and 47 walks while striking out 52, and yielded just one home run.
