Eagles Score 20 In Rout of Cedarville

The Ashland University baseball team exploded for 20 runs as the Eagles routed Cedarville, 20-3, on Monday (March 4) evening in Kissimmee, Fla.

It was the most runs the Eagles have scored since a 24-10 win over West Liberty on April 5, 2018.

The Eagles (5-1) pounded out 16 hits and drew nine walks as they scored in seven of their nine innings in the game.

Sophomore right-hander Josh Stover earned his second win of the season by going six innings and giving up just two runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked one.

Junior Garett Robberts hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Senior Matt Littrell and sophomores Dillan Smith, Austin Eifrid and Zach Franz all had extra-base hits in the game.

Junior Carson Mittermaier led the Eagles with three hits, while Littrell, Smith, Robberts and freshman Michael Haley had two hits apiece. Robberts drove in four runs, while Haley, Franz, Littrell and sophomore Logan Moss each added two RBI.

The bullpen combination of senior Ryan Curtis, junior Josh Smith and senior Chris Slavik each tossed an inning of relief.

The Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday (March 5) at 2:30 p.m. when they take on West Virginia Wesleyan. They will play seven more games on their Florida spring trip.
