David Kajganich

David Kajganich will be in his third season as the hitting coach for the Ashland University baseball team during the 2019 campaign. 

He spent the previous three seasons as the hitting coach for Rochester Institute of Technology. During his time there, the program reached unprecedented success. In his first season, RIT reached the conference playoffs for the first time in school history, advancing to the championship game. The team set numerous offensive records, improving its batting average from .282 to .316 and averaging 7.5 runs per game - an improvement of two runs per game from the previous season.

In 2017, the Tigers won a school-record 33 games, won their first Liberty League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship for the first time in school history. They were also nationally-ranked for the first time in school history.

RIT set single-season program records for winning percentage (.785), runs scored (317), hits (432), doubles (105), home runs (23), runs batted in (287), total bases (642), slugging percentage (.452) and walks (191). The offense averaged over 7.5 runs per game.

Prior to RIT, Kajganich was the hitting coach for Cuyahoga Community College from 2010-14. In helping to turn the program around, the team challenged for the league title and regional appearances each year. In 2011, the team finished with the second-highest batting average in the country.

Kajganich played collegiately at the College of Wooster, and was inducted into his high school Hall of Fame in 2018.
