Travis Yang is the first assistant esports coach at Ashland University.

He came to Ashland from the University of Missouri, where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. He brings with him experience as the General Manager for Sloth E-Sports Club LLC, a premier North American organization based in StarCraft 2 & Super Smash Bros. Melee.

As a player, Yang has competed across multiple esports titles, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and StarCraft 2. At Ashland, Yang concentrates primarily on coaching the former three titles. Focusing in on the strategic and psychological aspects of competition, Yang helps to develop a deep pool of resources for the team to draw upon both in and outside the game.

During the 2018-19 season, Yang helped lead the team to first place in the AVGL Collegiate Fortnite Tournament Series. During that first season, the team made the playoffs in Tespa Hearthstone, Tespa Overwatch, CSL Fortnite, and CSL League of Legends. Ashland esports also completed the campaign finishing second in Hearthstone and third in Overwatch at the Zips Collegiate Esports Invitational.
