Four Eagles Land On Preseason D-II All-American Team

Four Ashland University football players – senior cornerback James Ester, junior running back Vance Settlemire, junior defensive end Adam Wallace and sophomore quarterback Travis Tarnowski – have been selected for honorable mention on the 26th Annual USA College Football Division II Preseason All-American Team.

Tarnowski is the reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year after starting all 10 games as a redshirt freshman. He threw for 2,167 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 58.3 percent of his passes.

Ester earned All-GLIAC honorable mention in 2014 after recording 35 total tackles (30 solo), one interception and a team-high seven pass breakups.

Settlemire also was an honorable mention All-GLIAC selection last fall after rushing 94 times for 753 yards (8.0-yard average) and six touchdowns and catching 14 passes for 172 yards and a score in a backup role.

Wallace was an honorable mention All-GLIAC choice as a sophomore after racking up 36 total tackles, two sacks, eight tackles for loss and an interception.

Ashland, 8-2 overall and in the GLIAC in 2014, returns 11 starters – five on offense and six on defense. The Eagles are ranked No. 23 in the 2015 Lindy's Division II Preseason Top 25 Poll.
