Home Football Opener To Feature First Responders Night

Home Football Opener To Feature First Responders Night

For the 2015 home football opener, Ashland University's athletic department is saying thanks to those who do so much to protect and serve the community.

The AU-Ohio Dominican game on Saturday (Sept. 19, 7 p.m.) not only will be a matchup of nationally-ranked teams, it also will be "First Responders Night." All first responders will get free admission with appropriate identification, and also will have the opportunity to be part of the fan tunnel prior to kickoff.

In recent weeks, the AU athletic department has been making calls, sending out mailers and hanging up signs around the community to promote Saturday night's festivities.

"We're really excited to incorporate the community into our gameday promotions," said Rachel O'Connor, AU Director of Sports Marketing and Promotions, "and what better way to start off than honoring those in our town and surrounding neighborhoods who go above and beyond to make where we live a safe place."

There will be a Cleveland sports donation raffle at the game - one ticket for donating a $1, and an arm's length for $5. Proceeds are going to local fire and police departments, and the winner gets a Cleveland sports prize pack.
