Eagle Football Remains No. 5 In Latest AFCA Coaches’ Poll

There is no change in the top five in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll, released on Monday (Nov. 2), meaning Ashland University's football team remains the No. 5-ranked team in the country.

It continues to be the Eagles' highest ranking in the AFCA poll since November 12, 2012, when they were No. 4 in the country.

Ashland, 9-0 overall and in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and champion of the GLIAC South Division, is one of four GLIAC teams in the poll, along with Ferris State (No. 3), Grand Valley State (No. 17) and Michigan Tech (No. 22).

The Eagles and Huskies (6-2, 6-2) will play on Saturday (Nov. 7) at 1 p.m. at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field. This will be the second consecutive season AU and MTU will play with both ranked in the Top 25.

The second set of Division II regional football rankings will be released on Monday afternoon. Ten Super Region 4 teams are in the Top 25 poll – Ferris State, Colorado State-Pueblo (No. 4), Ashland, Midwestern State (No. 11), Texas A&M-Commerce (No. 12), Colorado Mesa (No. 16), Grand Valley State, Indianapolis (No. 18), Colorado School of Mines (No. 21) and Michigan Tech.
