AU’s Tarnowski Among 2015 Harlon Hill Nominees

Ashland University sophomore quarterback Travis Tarnowski is among 38 players who have been nominated for the 2015 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year.

Tarnowski is 18-2 as a starting quarterback, including 10-0 in 2015. He is 212-for-335 (63.3 percent) for 2,845 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions passing this season, and has rushed for 132 yards and three TDs.

Tarnowski, who earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention this year and was the 2014 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, is one of just six sophomores among those nominated.

Players are nominated and voted on by the sports information directors at the 168 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions. The 38 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots, and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on Monday, Nov. 30.

The winner of the 2015 award, which is presented by the National Harlon Hill Award Committee, will be announced on Friday, Dec. 18 via a webcast, and the winner will be honored at a luncheon on the University of North Alabama campus on Jan. 8, 2016.
