AU Safety Ashley Is Cliff Harris Award Nominee

Ashland University senior rover Donzale Ashley is a nominee for the 2015 Cliff Harris Award, presented to the nation's top small college defensive player.

Ashley, a two-year starter for the Eagles who made the transition from cornerback to rover in 2015, finished the season with 52 total tackles (31 solo) and a team-high-tying three interceptions in 11 games.

A team captain, Ashley also earned first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition.

Finalists for the Harris Award will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 24, and honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual award banquet in February 2016. The winner will receive the $3,000 Cliff Harris Award trophy, presented by Harris, a six-time Pro Bowl safety for the Dallas Cowboys.
