AU’s Hoobler To Be Honored By NFF Northeastern Ohio Chapter

Ashland University senior defensive end Chase Hoobler will be honored at the annual Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation's Scholar-Athlete Banquet on Tuesday, March 8, at LaCentre Banquet Facility in Westlake.

Hoobler will receive a $2,000 postgraduate scholarship.

In 2015, Hoobler earned first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors for the second season in a row after recording 45 total tackles (14 solo), one sack, 6½ tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, one interception and one pass breakup.

He also is a 2015 GLIAC All-Academic Excellence selection.

The awards banquet will feature a number of local and national figures. Jim Tressel will be on hand to present the Lee Tressel Ohio College Coach of the Year Award, while former Cleveland Browns Robert Jackson and Kevin Mack will be awarded the Distinguished American and Dino Lucarelli Lifetime Achievement awards, respectively.

Youngstown State head coach Bo Pelini will serve as keynote speaker.
