Housewright Returns To Eagles As Graduate Assistant Coach

A very familiar face to Ashland football fans has returned to join the Ashland University football coaching staff.

Taylor Housewright, a highly-successful quarterback at both AU and Ashland High School, has joined the Eagle coaching staff as a graduate assistant/wide receivers coach. He will begin his fourth season of college football coaching, following a year (2015) at Wittenberg and two at Miami (Ohio) University (2013-14).

Housewright compiled a vast array of coaching duties in the last three years, spending a season each coaching quarterbacks, defensive backs and wide receivers.

As a player for Ashland, Housewright, a three-year starter, earned the highest placement by an Eagle in the Harlon Hill Trophy (NCAA Division II Player of the Year) voting, finishing fifth as a senior in 2012. Also in 2012, he was a first-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

Going into the 2016 season, Housewright ranks second in program history in career passing yards (7,259) and touchdowns (71).

An Ashland native who was the Ohio Division II Offensive Player of the Year and led AHS to the state Final Four as a senior, Housewright participated in the Cincinnati Bengals' rookie mini-camp in the spring of 2013.
