Three Ashland University football players have earned All-Super Region 4 recognition from the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA).

Junior tight end Adam Shaheen is a first-team All-Super Region 4 selection. He ended 2016 with 57 catches for 867 yards and a school-record/D-II tight end single-season record 16 touchdown receptions. He leads all Division II tight ends in all three categories, and continues to lead all tight ends at all NCAA levels in TD grabs.

On Wednesday (Nov. 30), Shaheen landed first-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors.

Both senior right guard Zachary Douglass and senior inside linebacker Brandon Gency landed on the All-Super Region 4 second team. Douglass graded out at 90 percent blocking with 95 knockdowns, while Gency racked up 76 total tackles (11½ for loss), 2½ sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble-recovery touchdown.

Shaheen, Douglass and Gency all were first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference choices in 2016.
