The start of the 2017 recruiting class for the Ashland University football program will take shape on Feb. 1, and there will be many ways for Eagle fans, the general AU community and the public at large to follow National Signing Day.

Feb. 1 is the first day high school football players can sign a National Letter of Intent. Throughout the day, goashlandeagles.com, Ashland's athletics and football Twitter accounts and a mid-afternoon press conference will provide the following:

- The @goashlandeagles and @AshlandFB Twitter accounts will provide information on signees as their paperwork comes in.

- Head football coach Lee Owens will announce the updated 2017 recruiting class in a press conference at 3 p.m. at the VIP Room in the Robert Troop Center. A press release with bios on the recruits will be available at the VIP room, and will be online at goashlandeagles.com shortly after the beginning of the press conference.

The AU community and the general public are invited as the latest class of Eagles is unveiled.

From 2012-16, Ashland has announced anywhere from 36-55 new recruits on National Signing Day.

In addition, the 2017 Eagles football schedule will be released, which will include the date and time of the annual Purple and Gold spring game at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.

In 2016, Ashland was 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and won the GLIAC South Division championship. The Eagles finished 19th in the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll.
