Eagle Football Picked Third in 2017 GLIAC Preseason Poll

Within the new-look 10-team Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Ashland University has been chosen to finish third by conference head coaches, as the 2017 GLIAC Football Preseason Poll was released on Tuesday (Aug. 1) morning.

The Eagles garnered 67 total voting points, trailing only preseason favorite Grand Valley State (77, six first-place votes) and second-place Ferris State (75, four first-place votes).

Ashland is ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II in the Lindy's Sports College Football National 2017 Preview preseason poll, and is coming off a 9-2 season and a GLIAC South Division championship. The Eagles return 15 starters from 2016 – eight on offense, five on defense and two on special teams.

The 2017 season will begin on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at Indiana, Pa. The Crimson Hawks are ranked No. 5 in the Lindy's preseason poll.
