For the second consecutive week, Ashland University's football team has moved up two spots in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

In the most recent edition of the poll, released on Monday (Oct. 9) morning, the Eagles (5-1 overall, 4-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) are ranked No. 16 in the country. Ashland is coming off its fifth straight victory, a 38-13 decision at Northern Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon, and is one of just two GLIAC teams still undefeated in league play, along with No. 7-ranked Grand Valley State.

Since the inception of the AFCA poll in 2000, Ashland has been ranked 62 times. In 2016, the Eagles went the entire season in the Top 25 for the first time.

The Eagles are 38-16 (.704) all-time as an AFCA Top 25 team.

In addition to Ashland and GVSU, Ferris State (No. 15) rounds out the GLIAC's three Top 25 teams in this week's poll.

Ashland returns to Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field for its 94th Homecoming game on Saturday (Oct. 14) at 1 p.m. vs. Michigan Tech (3-3, 2-2). The Eagles enter the contest with a 19-game regular-season home winning streak.

2017 AFCA POLL RANKINGS: Receiving votes (preseason-Sept. 18), No. 20 (Sept. 25), No. 18 (Oct. 2), No. 16 (Oct. 9).
