Eagles Tied For 12th In Latest AFCA Coaches’ Poll

Ashland University's football team has moved up in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the fourth consecutive week, landing in a tie for 12th in the latest edition on Monday (Oct. 23) afternoon.

Following a 38-24 win at Tiffin on Saturday (Oct. 21), the Eagles are alone atop the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings at 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the league. Ashland has won seven consecutive games.

Since the inception of the AFCA poll in 2000, the Eagles have been ranked 64 times. In 2016, Ashland went the entire season in the Top 25 for the first time. The Eagles are 40-16 (.714) all-time as an AFCA Top 25 team.

Once again, a trio of GLIAC teams are in the AFCA Top 25 – Ferris State (No. 11), Ashland and Grand Valley State (No. 19).

The first set of NCAA Division II regional rankings will be released on Monday afternoon. Ashland is seeking its seventh trip to the D-II postseason.

Ashland will play its final regular-season road game of 2017 on Saturday (Oct. 28) at noon vs. Wayne State (3-5, 2-4).

2017 AFCA POLL RANKINGS: Receiving votes (preseason-Sept. 18), No. 20 (Sept. 25), No. 18 (Oct. 2), No. 16 (Oct. 9), No. 13 (Oct. 16), No. 12, tied (Oct. 23).
