Ashland University's football team continues to move up the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll one spot at a time.
In the latest AFCA poll released on Monday (Oct. 30) afternoon, the Eagles are ranked No. 11 in the country, up one position from the previous week's poll and two spots better than two weeks ago. Ashland has won eight straight games, and leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings at 8-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
Since the inception of the AFCA poll in 2000, the Eagles have been ranked 65 times. In 2016, Ashland went the entire season in the Top 25 for the first time. The Eagles are 41-16 (.719) all-time as an AFCA Top 25 team.
Ashland is the highest-ranked GLIAC team in this week's Top 25 poll. Ferris State is No. 12, while Grand Valley State is No. 19.
The second set of NCAA Division II regional rankings will be released on Monday afternoon. In the first rankings released last week, the Eagles were No. 4 in Super Region Three.
In the top game in the GLIAC in Week 10, Ashland will play host to the Lakers (7-2, 6-1) on Saturday (Nov. 4) at 7 p.m. at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.
