Tickets for the Ashland University-Northwest Missouri State NCAA Division II first-round playoff game will go on sale on Tuesday (Nov. 14) at 10 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets through the AU Business Office (phone number 419-289-5022), and there will be an online ticket link at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at GoAshlandEagles.com.
The Eagles and Bearcats will start the postseason on Saturday (Nov. 18) at noon at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field. Ashland is the No. 3 seed in Super Region Three, is 10-1 with a current 10-game winning streak and is 5-0 at home, while Northwest Missouri State is the No. 6 seed, 9-2 overall and 5-1 on the road.
Pre-sale tickets for the game will be available starting Tuesday morning until Friday (Nov. 17) at 5 p.m. Those prices are $17 for reserved seats, $12 for adult general admission and $3 for students and seniors (age 62 and older).
Ticket prices after Friday at 5 p.m. will be $20 for reserved seats, $15 for adult general admission and $5 for students and seniors (age 62 and older).
No discounts or free admission will be available for Ashland students, faculty or staff, and no passes will be accepted.
Countdown To Postseason Kickoff
An early look at Saturday afternoon's game, by the numbers:
256 – The Eagles have scored 256 points in the first half so far this season, while allowing just 77 points in the first and second quarters combined.
30 – Ashland has scored at least 30 points in seven consecutive games, two games away from the school record of nine, set from Sept. 15-Nov. 10, 2012. The Eagles have scored 30 or more points in nine of 11 games in 2017.
20 – In the last four seasons, the Eagles have won 20 of 21 games at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field. Since the stadium opened for business in 2009, Ashland is 41-8 (.837) at home.
19½ – Junior defensive end James Prater Jr. has set a new school single-season record for tackles for loss with 19½. Prater Jr. has picked up that pace in the last four games, dropping opposing players in the backfield 11 times.
11 – Eleven Ashland players have combined to catch senior quarterback Travis Tarnowski's 26 touchdown passes in 2017. Three of those players – senior wide receiver Matthew Wilcox, redshirt freshman wide receiver Logan Bolin and junior wide receiver Kamaron Green – each have caught five TDs this season.
10 – The Eagles come into the game on a 10-game winning streak. The program record for consecutive victories is 14, set from Sept 9, 1972-Sept. 22, 1973.
7 – Ashland is making its seventh NCAA Division II postseason appearance all-time, all since 1986. This will be the fourth time the Eagles play host to a postseason game.
2 – There are two team offensive categories in which the Eagles are No. 2 in the country heading into the playoffs. Ashland's 96.1 percent in red-zone scoring (49 scores in 51 trips) is second only to West Virginia State (97.9), and its third-down conversion rate of 54.0 percent trails just LIU Post (58.1) in all of D-II.
Former Eagle All-Americans Shaheen, Meder Play In Week 10
Ashland's two active National Football League players, former All-Americans Adam Shaheen and Jamie Meder, played in Week 10 of the 2017 NFL season on Sunday (Nov. 12).
Shaheen, a rookie tight end for the Chicago Bears, started and caught two passes for 39 yards in a 23-16 loss at home to the Green Bay Packers. Meder, a fourth-year defensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns, played as a reserve and had one assisted tackle in a 38-24 loss at the Detroit Lions.
