The plaudits keep coming for Ashland University senior quarterback Travis Tarnowski, as he was named the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Super Region 3 Offensive Player of the Year on Friday (Dec. 1) morning.

Tarnowski threw for 3,044 yards and 31 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 2017, and completed 59 percent of his passes. He threw for two or more touchdowns in a game 10 times this fall, rushed for 156 yards and a score, and averaged 36.9 yards on 36 punts.

Tarnowski led an offense which helped the Eagles to a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship, the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs and an 11-2 overall record.

Earlier this year, Tarnowski earned GLIAC Player of the Year and first-team All-GLIAC laurels, and was a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II Player of the Year award).

Tarnowski also was a first-team all-super region selection, as was senior center Dominic Giunta. Last month, Giunta was chosen as the GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team all-conference pick.

Junior defensive end James Prater Jr. landed on the all-super region second team. A first-team All-GLIAC performer, Prater Jr. set the school record for tackles for loss in a season with 23½, and added 10 sacks, 63 total tackles (a team-high 42 solo), an interception, eight pass breakups, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
