Travis Tarnowski has earned many honors in his four seasons leading Ashland University's football team's offense.

On Wednesday (Dec. 6) morning, the Eagles' senior quarterback added the biggest – first-team All-America.

The 2017 NCAA Division II American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America teams were revealed on Wednesday, and Tarnowski is a first-team All-America quarterback. This comes on the heels of his being named NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Super Region 3 Offensive Player of the Year, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, first-team All-GLIAC and a Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II Player of the Year) nominee.

Tarnowski threw for 3,044 yards and 31 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 2017, and completed 59 percent of his passes. He threw for two or more touchdowns in a game 10 times this fall, rushed for 156 yards and a score, and averaged 36.9 yards on 36 punts.

Tarnowski led an offense which helped the Eagles to a GLIAC championship, the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs and an 11-2 overall record.

Ashland has had a first-team AFCA All-America three years in a row, and six times this decade.

ASHLAND'S BEST OF THE BEST

Throughout the years, a number of organizations have selected NCAA Division II All-America teams. An Associated Press Little All-America team began in 1934. The AFCA began selecting an All-America team in 1967.

Over the years, organizations such as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Daktronics, the Football Gazette and D2Football.com have selected their own teams.

The NCAA lists 17 Ashland College/University football players who have been honored as first-team All-Americas. That list appears below:
