An 11-2 record, an NCAA postseason victory and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship all contributed to Ashland University's football team ranking No. 10 in the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll of 2017.

Released on Monday (Dec. 18) afternoon, the final 2017 poll has the Eagles finishing a year in the Top 10 for the second time in three seasons. The No. 10 ranking is Ashland's second-highest at the end of a season, trailing only the No. 9 spot achieved at the end of 2012.

In 2017, Ashland qualified for the D-II postseason for the seventh time, and won its third GLIAC title. The Eagles' 11 wins are tied for the most in a single season in program history.

The Eagles were ranked by the coaches in the final nine polls of the season, and have been in the Top 25 on 68 occasions since the AFCA took over the poll in 2000.

Ashland is one of two GLIAC schools in the season-ending Top 25, along with No. 5 Ferris State.
